I forgot that you can have these converted to 4wd from Quigley ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). Check out those rock sliders though.

My brother owns the unmodified version of this thing (why yes, he does have seven kids). I would have recommended a loaded Sienna, but he wanted something more tank-like to combat pesky Utah drivers.

not a bad policy.

tis clean and low mile, but the guy who imports those is not far from me. Something about those BJ73's though never sat right with me and I can’t figure out what it is.

If they’d drop the Cummins in this van I’d be real tempted to sell my truck and get one of these

GM sells a diesel van still, its just the 2.8 though but you can get quigley to do a dual speed 4wd conversion on it. You are looking at about 50 large all in but you would have a pretty fuel efficient tough camp wagon when its all done.

I’d be looking for something that can tow more than for an off road set-up. Unfortunately GMs vans with the 2.8 look to be rated to only 6300lbs towing. It would be interesting to see how well it would actually tow our boat which is right near the top of that rating though. I wonder if it would feel under powered or not...because the chassis is good for up 9600lbs towing if you get the 6.0 so it looks like it de-rated due to the engine.

I didn’t know UPS would deliver to my overland camp... good to know!

The BJ73 is my dream cruiser, the guy who owns Torfab dailys one. But I also don’t have children and have a fetish for slow 80s Toyotas.

yeah I think towing 6000 with that engine even in the lighter colorado would be slow going.

they are getting to be “popular” imports around here. There are at least a dozen running around.

I really don’t ever see myself owning one though... I’d rather have an FJ80, or Dolphin for glamping.

I think the proportions are off, it’s just to stubby and tall. An Isuzu slab sided trooper II pulls it off better.

maybe thats it. This refresh is just...unsettling

I always thought Rock Sliders like those we’re not great. I feel like I’ve been in situations where the object would go rick between those and wedge me in/hit the body. Also, the change in support from the sliders would have upset the balance and might have put me more onto a tree

given that its just a single speed system I doubt its going to be pushed to the limit. I gather its mainly for breakover entanglements.

That would be a pretty sweet rig!

You cannot legally put seven kids and their parents in any minivan. Eight total passengers is the max limit. At nine passengers your options are a Chevy Suburban with a front bench seat (if they still even sell those, and I’m not sure they do), or a full size van. The full size van is quite frankly the best option for that many kids.
